Western Horizon Resorts Hurricane Season Master Plan

Hurricane season is once again upon us. As everyone is aware, especially after Katrina, no area within shouting distance of the Gulf is safe. Therefore, we have developed the following action plan in the event of another hurricane that tracks into our area:

We will be on a three tiered system that we have designated:
• “GREEN” No storm approaching, all activities normal.
• “YELLOW” A storm, either a tropical storm, or a hurricane and has a storm track that has the potential to move in our direction.
• “RED” A hurricane has been designated and has a high probability of land fall in or around our location

In the event that a storm is determined to cause a “YELLOW” alert, we ask that you make preparations to be able to weather high winds and extensive rain. If the storm is a hurricane, you need to be able do the above, as well as begin making preparations to evacuate. This would include, but is not limited to:

• Making sure you have a place in mind that you can evacuate to
• Having proper supplies of food, water, batteries, fuel, etc.
• Putting away and securing anything that might blow around
• Making sure trash is properly disposed of.

If it is determined that a hurricane has a high probability of land fall in our area, the resort manager will have the authority to issue a “RED” alert. This will be a MANDATORY evacuation of the Abita Springs RV Resort. If this occurs, the Abita Springs RV Resort will be closed until such a time as it is determined it is safe to re-open. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE PREMISE DURING THIS TIME!

We will follow the lead, and instructions of local, state and federal authorities, and we will us all possible resources to make the proper designation. However, we accept no responsibility or liability for weather related injury to you, or damage to you property.

We have set up a telephone number at the corporate office in Colorado. In the event of an evacuation, there will be a recorded message advising the status of the resort. If you have Internet access, you may go to our website and look for the “HURRICANE” icon. Click on that icon, and we will have the resort status posted there.

We sincerely hope that we do not have to make an evacuation order and we will do everything in our power to be accurate in our assessment. However, this is for your safety, and we ask you full cooperation. The resort manager will have full authority and the final say, and we ask that you respect her decisions and follow her directions. Your full cooperation is appreciated.
